Sylvan School of Dance was established in 2012 following the retirement of the school’s former principal.  With the help of the new teaching team the school continues to go from strength to strength.

I started dancing at the age of 3 as I was ‘clumsy’ and quickly decided that dance was my favourite pastime. My secondary education was at Thornden School and then Barton Peveril College whilst training at a local dance school where I loved performing in dance festivals and school shows. I then spent three years studying at the Royal Academy of Dance in London gaining a First Class honours degree in the Art and Teaching of Ballet and my teaching qualifications from the RAD and ISTD. In recent years I have also added the acrobatic arts and PBT qualifications to my portfolio.I have now been teaching for over 20 years and take great pride in providing quality dance education to the young people in my care.

Nicole is a highly experienced teacher and has worked locally for many years. Her previous festival choreography has successfully reached All England finals and she was asked, by the ISTD, to coach a group of children to demonstrate the grade 5 tap syllabus at the ISTD Congress.

Izzy has been a student at Sylvan since the age of 2 and has loved participating in school shows and dance festivals to National Finals level over the years.

She is currently studying for a degree in Business Management.  Whilst at university Izzy has continued dancing in the OBUDS dance squad and was competition secretary during her second year.

This year Izzy is carrying out an industry placement as part of her university degree course so has returned to help with festival and show choreography whilst she is at home.

Izzy is expanding her teaching and choreography experience in preparation for undertaking the ISTD DDE qualification after she has finished her degree.
