We have continued to see an enthusiastic response to our online classes during the spring term. This is obviously not the situation we would like to be in but hopefully now there is a light at the end of the tunnel. We are awaiting updated guidance from the government but have been working hard to put plans in place to return to in-person classes as soon as the regulations allow. If things go to plan this could be from 19th April but we are dependent on the opening of our hired venues. Over the last few months some of our pupils have been taking part in online dance festivals/Southern Dance Class Awards online and have performed fantastically. Well done to all those involved – including families who re-arranged furniture to facilitate this! In October we were
THIS FORM MUST BE COMPLETED BY ALL PUPILS AND ACCOMPANYING ADULTS BEFORE WE REOPEN IN THE NEW TERM.
Please read carefully through the list of additional guidelines that we have to follow at the current time (sorry – it is quite extensive!)
We had a fantastic response to our online classes during the summer term. Students showed dedication and perseverance with technology to continue with their dance studies from home and made good progress. We decided to take a break over the summer as normal to allow everyone to rest ready for the new term. We are awaiting updated guidance from the government but have been working hard to put plans in place to return to in-person classes as soon as the regulations allow. Unfortunately, at present I am unable to run Junior or Senior Jazz, Greek or Acro classes as these classes contain too many different age groups together and do not conform to government ‘bubbling’ requirements. I am also not allowed to ‘spot’ any skills in acro. Over the summer some of our pupils have been
We have completed a risk assessment for our return to dance, please download the document here.
“I hope all our students and their families are coping during this difficult time. With the country being requested to stay at home for the immediate future we are unfortunately unable to hold our regular studio-based classes. We have been working hard to develop a series of online classes and tasks to keep our students engaged, both mentally & physically, during the closure period. It is lovely to see the smiling faces of our students with the help of technology and we have received some heart-warming feedback from parents. This is far from an ideal situation but we are doing our best to keep our students dancing until such time as we can resume proper classes. Our thoughts are with all those that have been affected and we express our sincere thanks to all those working
Following the government’s updated advice today it is with regret that I am postponing our Student Showcase.I will be in touch with Oasis Academy to arrange an alternative date when we see how the situation develops. With regards to our normal classes – As schools are still open, I will be working as usual this Tuesday. I completely understand if parents would rather not bring their child to dance but those who do choose to come will be encouraged to follow the PHE hygiene precautions. I will re-evaluate over the coming days as government recommendations are issued. In addition, we ask that any student or family that has any symptoms of the virus do not attend classes and follow government guidelines regarding self-isolation. I am also looking at alternative methods of delivering some form of tuition

The school show ‘Once Upon A Dream’ had to move venue this year due to the ongoing structural work at Thornden Hall. Thank you to Oasis Lordshill for accommodating us. All the students worked hard to put on a polished performance for an appreciative audience. The show raised £595.30 for Abby’s Heroes. Thank you to all those that donated. The performance team gave a spectacular performance at Disneyland Paris in February. The students all showed great dedication in their rehearsals and we took our biggest group so far. The Disney backstage co-ordinator was very impressed by their conduct backstage and slick performance. Well done everyone!
